This work is dedicated to the buffer zone on Cyprus, also known as the Green Line (Greek: Πράσινη Γραμμή, Prasini Grammi; Turkish: Yeşil Hat). Due to conflicts between the two population groups, the Greek Cypriots and the Turkish Cypriots, the Green Line - a demarcation line that can be compared to the Berlin Wall - divided Nicosia as early as 1963 and led to resettlement within the zone. After a military coup and an invasion in 1974, the buffer zone was drawn through the centre of the island and has divided Cyprus into two parts ever since. The work questions the nature of this border, which was erected to realise the respective dreams of national purity, and examines its impact on the people and the landscape.
