We have engaged intensively with the question of how scientific facts can be communicated. Driven by the conviction that humans can hardly grasp purely rational facts and, as emotional beings, require other ways to understand complex interrelationships and to perceive seemingly distant worlds as an essential part of our own, we approach the abstraction of raw data with an emotional mediation strategy.
In the performance, the Arctic landscape appears as an independent voice, which can be addressed and played through the sound object Klimaton Arctic. Authors Heike Geißler and Sivan Ben Yishai have created intense texts that highlight human incapacity to perceive the world as a whole and immerse the audience deeply in the subject matter.
Composers Daniel Dominguez Teruel and Thies Mynther explore this strange encounter between landscape and humans musically and perform together with actress Mateja Meded and us. This creates a unique symbiosis of sound, word, and visual art, telling the story of climate change and the urgent ecological challenges of our time also as a crisis of culture.
