In collaboration with scientists from the MOSAiC expedition, the musical instrument Klimaton Arctic was created—a resonating body of the Arctic.
The landscape itself becomes the composer, its disappearance the score. But how does one play a dying world? Listening becomes a radical act—a way of entwining oneself with the landscape, which is the thermometer of the Earth. The evening is a shared approach to the irretrievable.
Sound artists such as Kirsten Reese, Tengal Drilon & Mo’ong, Daniel Dominguez Teruel, and Thies Mynther will breathe, touch, rage, and lament together with the instrument… sound worlds oscillating between requiem, ecological and political meditations, and raw noise—a sonic cartography of decay.
Texts by Heike Geißler, Sivan Ben Yishai, and Adnan Softić flicker like marginal notes of world-weariness, while video projections by the duo komposter transform the performance into an archive of data melancholy.
